OUR STORY

How did we end up in Hong Kong in the first place?

Mary, after spending her childhood in Hong Kong, Canada, and the UK, decides to spend some time in Japan and China before going back to her hometown in Hong Kong in 2012.

Tommy, after having studied / worked in Europe, US and Latin America, decides to move to Asia. He spent 1 year working in Singapore, Malaysia, before relocating to Hong Kong for the company he works for, in Sep-2013.

The two lived under the same sky in Hong Kong, but they never meet.

THE LOCATION

Sestri Levante

This is a special place for Tom and Mary and also where he proposed.

A beautiful seaside location in the North-West of Italy. It's a nice little town with fresh and clear seawater, nice food, fresh air, and a nice city centre. It's a gem and Tom's family has been spending their summer holidays here since he was a child. It's located right between 2 destination gems of Italy: Portofino and Cinque Terre. Both locations are reachable in 30/40 min by train or ferry and we strongly recommend to take advantage of the opportunity to visit both. We provide more information about the tours here.

HOW TO GET THERE

By plane

Fly to either of Milan 2 airports:

a) Milano Linate - the city airport

b) Milano Malpensa - the international airport

By train

It take 3 - 4h train from Milano Malpensa to Sestri Levante. Alternatively, if you want to stop by Milan for some shopping, there is a train every 30 min connecting the airport to Milano Centrale (central train station), and the trip takes 58 min. From Milan city it will take around 2:30h train to Sestri.

Train schedules here. If you are searching for trains from Milano Malpensa, use the term "Milano Malpensa" on the train website.

By car

It takes around 2:30h drive from Milano Malpensa to Sestri Levante.

You can rent a car here.

N.B. Sestri Levante is a very small town. You DON'T need a car here, everything is reachable by walk. Also Sestri is very well connected by train to all the main destinations in Italy.

TOUR OPTIONS

Cinque Terre

(Daily ferry tours leaving from Sestri)

Cinque Terre, in Italian means "5 Lands" or "5 Towns", comprise the five small coastal villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. They are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. You can go there either by train, and walk  the famous Via dell'Amore (translation 'lovers lane'), or take a ferry tour that starts at Porto Venere. Given the hot season we recommend to take the ferry and enjoy the sea trip.

Also don't forget your swimsuit!

Portofino

(Daily ferry tours leaving from Sestri)

Portofino is famous for its picturesque harbour and VIP scene. It's a very small town, very tidy and elegant. The best way to visit it is by the many ferry tours leaving from Sestri. The ferry tour will also take you to visit the beautiful San Fruttuoso Abbey - that located on a beach, surrounded by the forests, and only reachable by boat. It looks like a painting, a real gem.
